Maximized Living Bike Event, Races into Brookfield
Friday, July 16, 2010 the Brookfield Civic Center area (Calhound Road) will become the site for a fast paced and exciting bike race; the Maximized Living Criterium which is part of the International Cycling Classic. The International Cycling Classic is the oldest and longest-running multi-category cycling race in the world. The event has a long running tradition of international participation. Each year, Americana and a large European contingent travel to compete in the event, many of these competitors are emerging stars on the racing scene.
The Maximized Living Criterium will take to the streets of Brookfield that surround the Civic Center area on Friday, July 16. Racing will begin at 9:30AM with the Cat 4/5 Men's Race, followed by the Cat 3/4 Women's race at 10:40. At 11:45AM, the Master's Men Program will begin, followed by the Masters 35+ at 1PM. The Cat 3 Men's Race begins at 2PM, followed by the Women's Pro Race at 4PM. A local celebrity lap will be held at 5:30 and be led by Brookfield Mayor, Steve Ponto and Elmbrook School Superintendent, Dr. Matt Gibson, with other local celebrities joining in the fun. At 5:45PM the Men's Pro Race will begin, with exciting action for all.
In additional to the racing, food and vendors will be available for participants and spectators to enjoy. This is the first year the event will be held in Brookfield, so spectators are highly encouraged to be on hand for the high speed event. Not a racer, volunteers are needed to help with course marshal duties. This is a great way to watch the race up close and personal as well as keep riders and spectators safe.
