Camp Whitcomb/Mason Invites Local Athletes to 18th Annual Triathlon

Organizers of the 18th Annual Camp Whitcomb/Mason Triathlon on Sunday, Aug. 8 invite local athletes to register for the sprint event while space remains. The triathlon takes place at the camp, located at W294 N8436 Camp Whitcomb Rd. in Hartland, and is open to individuals and relay teams of all abilities. Proceeds from the event will benefit members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee who attend the camp’s year-round programs.

In this sanctioned USA Triathlon event, athletes will swim one-third mile, bike 22 miles and run three miles. The race will be timed with the ChampionChip Electronic Timing System. Athletes age 15 or older may register as long as they are capable of safely completing a triathlon of equal or greater distance in the allotted time. If the athlete is under 18 years of age, parental permission is required.

Registrations forms are available online at www.campwhitcombmason.org. Registration and packet materials will be available for pick-up on Saturday, August 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and on race day from 6 -7:30 a.m. There is an additional fee for race weekend registration. Capacity will be limited to the first 530 athletes.

Support for the Camp Whitcomb/Mason comes from a number of local businesses with Fox Sports Wisconsin; Emerys Third Coast Cycling, Triathlon & Fitness Shops; Derco Aerospace, Inc.; Wisconsin Athletic Club; and Kohl’s Department Store among them.

To learn more about Camp Whitcomb/Mason, visit www.campwhitcombmason.org. It is part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, the oldest and largest youth serving agency in Milwaukee. The Clubs also operate the Hadfield Safe Place program at Hadfield Elementary School, which is funded by the United Way of Waukesha County, in addition to 35 locations in Milwaukee, and an extension site at Ethan Allan School for Boys in Wales. Membership to the Clubs is only $5 per year, per child, but no one is ever turned away based on inability to pay. For more information, visit the Club’s Web site at www.boysgirlsclubs.org.
