Retzer Nature Center Offers New Summertime Adventure Program

Join us at Retzer Nature Center, the ideal location for a summertime outdoor adventure. It is a fascinating place where a junior naturalist can explore, observe, and investigate our natural world. Seven to 12 year olds will enjoy activities that encourage an awareness and appreciation of our environment. The program is held every Thursday from June 17 through July 29 from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

 

Thursday, June 17, “Ecosystems.” – Come learn about the different ecosystems here at Retzer Nature Center. Create your own ecosystem to take home. Please register by Thursday, June 10.

 

Thursday, June 24, “Aquatic Life.” – Travel down to the pond and discover what lives in the mucky water. Dress appropriately as things could get muddy! Please register by Thursday, June 17.

 

Thursday, July 1, “Solar Car Challenge.” – Learn about solar power as you construct your own solar car to race. Cars will go home with each child. Please register by Thursday, June 24

 

Thursday, July 8, “Birds.” – Explore the trees and sky for these flying creatures, while you learn to use binoculars and discover cool stuff about these feathered machines. Please register by Thursday, July 1.

 

Thursday, July 15, “Weather or Not.” – Clouds, wind and rain will not keep us from our fun! We’ll discover how nature predicts the weather and then build a weather station to take home. Please register by Thursday, July 8.

 

Thursday, July 22, “Fossils.” – Step back in time and learn how fossils were made. We will go exploring the trails to look for various fossil types. Make a fossil to take home. Please register by Thursday, July 15.

 

Thursday, July 29, “Nature’s Voice.” – Learn how animals and plants communicate to each other. We will use our senses to explore some unique ways to communicate. Please register by Thursday, July 22.
