Elmbrook Area Older Adult Forum...

Empowering Older Adults Through Education and Support

On Tuesday, March 23rd, 12:45 – 2:30pm, at the Brookfield Senior Community Center (2000 N. Calhoun Rd., Brookfield), older adults in the Elmbrook area are invited to take part in a new monthly ‘forum’ designed especially to address issues pertinent to the life of older adults. Each month the forum will discuss a different topic important and relevant to older adults. This month’s topic is ‘Jest for the Health of It’. All older adults are welcome to take part in this FREE seminar. Light refreshments will be served. For more information contact Juli at 262-853-9352

Come prepared to giggle with us on Tuesday, March 23rd at 12:45pm! If you could take a pill that provided pain relief, elevated your immune system and helped you with your memory, you would probably ask your doctor for it today – right? Well, you have that ‘pill’ right now and it is called humor! Geri Heppe, MA Gerontologist and Director of Life Enrichment at Lutheran Homes of Oconomowoc, presenter of Jest for the Health of It, will discuss how tickling your funny bone can actually affect your health.

The Elmbrook Area Older Adult Forum was developed by local professionals to help empower older adults and their families through education and support. Upcoming forum topics include “Being Your Own Health Care Advocate” with Brent Aleshire from Stowell Associates in April; “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Tea Pot” with John Osinga from Osinga Law Office in May; and in June the “ABC&Ds of Medicare” with Tom Wudy of the Taber Group (Senior Solutions). Members of the Elmbrook Area Older Adult Forum include representatives from Brookdale Senior Living, Universal Services, Prestige Home Health Care, Brookfield Gardens Assisted Living, Osinga Law Office, Seasons Hospice, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Stowell Associates, and Church and Chapel Funeral Homes.
