'Get Your Book Published' class

Jan. 22, 2010 | 0 comments

The Wauwatosa Recreation Department is offering "Get Your Book Published," a class for writers and aspiring writers taught by Milwaukee author Tom Kertscher.

The class will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday Jan. 25 at Wauwatosa West High School. The cost is $12.

Kertscher will talk about how to develop a book proposal and how to find publishers and agents that handle the type of book you want to do.

He will also share his experiences with his two books:

"Cracked Sidewalks and French Pastry: The Wit and Wisdom of Al McGuire" (University of Wisconsin Press, 2002).

"Brett Favre: A Packer Fan's Tribute" (Turner Publishing, 2006, with new editions in '07 and '08).

Kertscher is also at work on a non-sports book, a collection of touching stories about the last words people say before they die.

To register for the class, go to www.TosaRec.com or call (414) 773-2900.

Kertscher, a Journal Sentinel news reporter, talked about the class on "The Morning Blend" television show. Watch the interview by clicking the Tuesday button at www.TheMorningBlend.com.

For writers seeking to do a book who would prefer not to attend a class, Kertscher offers one-on-one assistance, via e-mail, in developing a book proposal.

For more information on the class or the book proposal service, e-mail Kertscher at tkerch@yahoo.com.
