Brass Quintet Will Entertain Women of AAUW

The West Suburban – Milwaukee branch of AAUW will hold a special musical program on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Community Room of Sunset Theatre, Elm Grove. The program will feature Esprit d’Brass, a brass quintet of local musicians:

Dennis Kuehl (trumpet), Robert Newman (trumpet), Erwin Lackner (French horn), Kurt Vollbrecht (trombone), and Marc Gorelick (tuba).

The program hostess, Pat Rierson, of Elm Grove, said in a press release that all except Gorelick are Milwaukee natives. Kuehl, recently retired as a middle school band teacher, has also performed in a nationally touring big band; Newman, a chiropractor from Wauwatosa, is one of the original members of the group; Lackner, a music educator, also performs with the Racine Symphony and is a former member of the Air Force Band; Vollbrecht, an aerospace engineer, also performs with the Dick Strauss Orchestra; Gorelick is a pediatric emergency physician at Children’s Hospital.

The quintet will feature music for Christmas, Hanukah and the Winter Solstice.

The musical program will begin at 7:45 p.m., following a social hour with refreshments and a short business meeting.

Guests and prospective members are welcome; please call Ms. Rierson at 262-784-3257. American Association of University Women meets monthly at the Sunset Theatre location; in addition, various interest groups meet along with several fundraisers to support the educational mission.
