UW-Waukesha Band Performs in Free Concert

WAUKESHA –The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha Symphonic Band will present a spring concert Friday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, located in the Fine Arts Center on campus at 1500 N. University Dr., Waukesha. Admission is free, and the public is invited.

The program opens with Firework by Jan Vander Roost and ends with John Philip Sousa’s The Fairest of the Fair. Between these, the band will perform works by Steven Reincke, Frank Bencriscutto, and Richard Wager plus three movements of Terpsimetrics by Donald H. White.

Craig Hurst, UW-Waukesha professor of music and director of bands, and Thomas Patterson, associate lecturer in music, will direct.

Instrumentalists include students and members of the community.

Brookfield: Rob Frutchey and Allison Melk-Blasezky, flute; Sandy Lefebvre, French horn

Dousman: Jerry Throndson, tuba

Franklin: Paul Stein, French horn

Greenfield: Randy Simon, trumpet

Hartland: Nicholas Migawa, baritone saxophone

Menominee Falls: Tom Haefner, trombone

Milwaukee: Sandy Frisque, French horn

Mukwonago: Richard Hanson, trumpet

Muskego: Matthew Cromby, percussion

Nashotah: Zackery Olson, percussion

New Berlin: Beverly Mutter and Ken Rankin, clarinet; Bess Strempel, French horn

Ottawa: Alan Buchanan, trumpet

Pewaukee: Megan Demman and Lora Mueller, flute; Matt Teschendorf, trumpet

Sussex: Krista Vanderwerff, clarinet

Waterford: Chuck Nohr, percussion

Waukesha: Lauren Bantz, clarinet; Aimie Cafalu, alto saxophone; Mary Cyrulik, string bass; Jennifer Esh, clarinet; Nick Gerdman and Jon Kasparek, euphonium; Ryan Katzhung, trumpet; Julie Mitchell, French horn; Melissa Neiss, flute; Mary Reese, oboe; Margaret Russell, tenor saxophone; Jim Skaleski, alto saxophone; Kevin Stelter and Adam Sykes, percussion

Wauwatosa: Marcia Smeiska, oboe and English horn

Williams Bay: Ashley Pharris, clarinet

 

And joining the group from Orland, Maine, is Don Blodgett, trombone.
