Finalists Announced For AppleTree Credit Union “Why my Grandma should be the Next Granny Smith” Essay Contest
The competition was fierce, but the finalists have been selected! Thirteen grandmas were honored in the Third Annual “Why my Grandma should be the Next Granny Smith” essay contest sponsored by AppleTree Credit Union, the Waukesha County Federated Library System and the Waukesha County Park System. Finalists for the essay contest are:
• Samantha Fletcher of Sussex
• Holly Flitsch of Waukesha
• Anna Schmidt of Brookfield
Entrants between the ages of 9 and 13 were asked to tell why their Grandma is the apple of their eye in 500 words or less. All finalists will be recognized at the 23rd Annual Apple Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 19 and will receive free admission into the Festival at Retzer Nature Center, located at S14 W28167 Madison Street in Waukesha. The third place winner will receive a $50 savings bond and the second place winner will receive at $75 savings bond, both from AppleTree Credit Union. The finalist selected as the first place winner will win a $100 savings bond from AppleTree Credit Union, and the winning Grandma will be crowned the Festival’s honorary Granny Smith 2009. Come listen as the finalists read their essays and the winner is announced at 1 p.m. on the Festival’s main stage.
