Dick Glaser Will Receive St. Anne’s Award on September 29.
The St. Anne’s Award recognizes distinguished service and extraordinary commitment to the Ministry of St. Anne Salvatorian Campus affecting a lasting impact on the integrity of care and service to the residents (past, present and future). The recipient understands and upholds the values of our ministry as demonstrated through the values of faith shown through acts that improve the quality of care, promote justice, and collaborative relationships that are mindful of the responsibilities of stewardship.
Dick Glaser will be receiving the St. Anne’s Award at the annual HeartStrings event. St. Anne’s Administrator Lynn Vogt describes Dick and the reason he is this year’s recipient.
“Richard Glaser is a kind, generous, loving family man. He chose to use his status and influence in life to raise his voice on behalf of those who have little or no voice; he chose to identify not only with the powerful, but with the powerless. Dick understands that we don’t need magic to change the world for we all carry all the power we need inside ourselves to make a difference. In his quietly optimistic and confident manner, he models the virtues of generosity and compassion always and in all ways encouraging others to offer their time, talents and treasures to help others. He inspires kindness and goodness in others. The St. Anne’s family is truly honored to acknowledge Dick Glaser as the 2009 St. Anne’s Award recipient,” Lynn explained.
It is a year of Jubilees for Dick Glaser. As the following list will indicate, Dick knows a thing or two about commitment. In 2009, he and his wife Joanne celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family. In addition, he was honored by the Catholic Knights for holding a fifty-year policy that he bought from a friend and classmate Chuck Rebek. Incredibly, the agent and the policy holder were both present at the Knights ceremony.
He graduated from Mother of Good Counsel Grade School in 1951 in Milwaukee and has invited his seventh and eighth grade teacher, Sister Aquin Gilles, SDS, to attend the upcoming HeartStrings Benefit and Gala on September 29. This year he is also marking his 50th reunion from Marquette University Business Administration College. Since 1959 he has been a tax accountant, forty years with his own company. His clients lived across thirty-three states, Saudi Arabia and West Germany. He retired about ten years ago but still assists friends.
His life has been blessed with varied friends and connections and he sincerely believes in the value of volunteering. His life has been an acknowledgement of this priority.
Dick has been a faithful friend of St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus and is dedicated to helping the residents. He has been an extraordinary volunteer at the Tyme Out Youth Center in Stone Bank, Wisconsin, and at St. Joseph Parish in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
The Glasers first became involved at St. Anne’s when Joanne’s late mother was a resident. Then as he describes it, there were other “little things here and there.” On September 29, we will acknowledge all the little and big things and his generous spirit that nurtured the ministry of St. Anne’s.
