UW-Waukesha Students Honored for Achievements

University of Wisconsin-Waukesha academic departments recognized the work of six students this year, conferring departmental honors at the Honors & Degree ceremony Thursday, May 21. Additionally, seven students received achievement awards for their extracurricular efforts.

Faculty within a department may nominate students to honor for academic work that has been truly outstanding in that discipline. These awards are bestowed only when individual departments so designate; therefore, not every department gives honors each year.

Students receiving departmental honors this spring were:

Chemistry: Berry Fairchild, Mequon

John Mattson, Waukesha

Communication &

Theatre Arts: Ryan Lamb, Waukesha

English: Patrick Kelly, Waukesha

History: Matthew Sorensen, Wind Lake

Political Science: Dan Posca, Waukesha

 

Students who received awards for achievements that significantly contributed to student life were:

 

Future Educators Club: Amber Mueller, Muskego

History Project: Mark Heidenreich, East Troy

Crystal Riemer, Waukesha

Orientation Leader: Evelyn Diaz, Waukesha

Student Activities (ACT) Evelyn Diaz

Gabriela Smeltzer, Brookfield

Student Government: Omer Farooque, New Berlin

Fourteen members of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year colleges, completed their Associate Degrees.
