Sept. 11, 2013

Gardening expert, TV/radio host, author and columnist Melinda Myers will lead two “Fall Finale” garden walks at Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive in Hales Corners on Saturday, Oct. 5. There will be an adult garden walk at 10 a.m. and a family walk at 1 p.m.

The educational walks, hosted by the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens, will showcase all the spectacular beauty Boerner Botanical Gardens has to offer while providing the attendees with ideas and inspiration for next year’s garden. The afternoon garden walk will feature fun for the entire family, including a scavenger hunt, bark rubbings, leaf prints and a garden activity for the kids to take home and grow.

“I’m excited to partner with Boerner and join attendees to savor the fall beauty of the Gardens and also help them find solutions for their own landscapes,” explained Myers. “In an intimate group setting we’ll showcase possible plant replacements, stress tolerant low maintenance plants, and plant combinations to give landscapes a seasonal facelift. And the afternoon family walk is always a great way to get kids interested and involved in nature and gardening.”

Attendees who bring a new walk participant will receive a free annual membership to the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens. Proceeds from the series will support the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens’ Children’s Plant Science and Environmental Education at Boerner Botanical Gardens.
