Fourteen-year-old Brookfield resident Amber Soik appears in First Stage’s PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL, a fun-loving musical based on the popular book of the same name by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, playing at the Todd Wehr Theater at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts through March 27.
Amber has been involved in theater since the third grade. PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL is her debut performance with First Stage, but past shows include ONE HUNDRED AND ONE DALMATIANS, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, ANNIE and ALL SHOOK UP. She enjoys acting because of the thrill of being on a stage in front of an audience. “I love having the freedom to interpret on stage,” she said.
“From participating and performing in shows, I have learned the importance of getting on the stage and sharing my love of performing with as many people as possible,” Amber said. “From my time at First Stage, I have learned that it is OK to be my crazy self.” Her favorite thing about First Stage is the people. “I enjoy all of the hugs as well as just being around people I can relate to,” she added.
“Our production creates a playful world of excessive pink, magical transformations and dancing cupcakes,” said First Stage Associate Artistic Director John Maclay, the director of this colorful musical adventure. “Our talented actors, designers and professional shops all played a part in bringing Pinkalicious, her world, her family, her friends, and several dancing cupcakes to life here at First Stage,” he continued.
For Amber, the most fun part about performing in PINKALICIOUS THE MUSICAL is the crowds of young people who come to see the show.
