Mark Shurilla's legacy lives on in the music he loved and has continued to perform for years. Theaters were usually filled almost to capacity to hear the music of the "Winter Dance Party"
Mark Shurilla passed away on May 15, 2012, his group won a WAMI Award for "the Greatest Tribute Band in Wisconsin" All of the “Greatest Hits Band” chose to complete the calendar year the way Mark would have done.
Liam Ford, WAMI Award winner for his Rockabilly tribute to Johnny Cash, John Van Thiel, one of the greatest Elvis Tribute singers in Wisconsin, Danny J, known as the Pavarotti of Rock with his vocal ability to hit the octaves of Roy Orbison, the Righteous Brothers and Jay and
the Americans, Marvelous Marl with her outstanding tribute to the sounds of several girl groups. And 7 year old Valor Yost, who steals the shows with love for Johnny Cash.
At 4 yrs. old, young Valor walked out on a live recording of Good Morning America so he could sing Folsom Prison Blues and Ring of Fire with Johnny Cash's sister Joanne Cash. He also appeared on America's Got
Talent/YouTube connection a few years ago.
The "Rockin' 50s/60s Tribute Show" will be at the Sharon Lynne
Wilson Center on Oct 6th. This is the first theater show since Mark Shurilla passed away in this area.
