Waukesha, WI – Got a little Scottish or Irish in you? Waukesha hosts Wisconsin’s largest Highland Games this weekend at the Waukesha Exposition Center. With authentic food items and clan research areas, there’s something for those that come from the Highlands, and those that would like to pretend they do!
Friday night, August 31st launches the weekend with live music and opening ceremonies. The Games begin Saturday and Sunday daily at 9am with the heavy athletics (turning of the caper and hammer throw), longbow and battle axe and single stick fencing. See Celtic K-9s, sheep herding and view living history at its best. Take part in the tastiest part of the games with a wide variety of Scottish, Irish and American food items like meat pies, fish & chips, shortbread & more!
The Wisconsin Highland Games is also the place to track ancestry roots, ask around with a family name and connect with the official clan organization and local branches. Want to dig deeper? These groups will assist in tracing family history. The Clan Area will also be the site for demonstrations, music, dancing and competitions throughout the day.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau is dedicated to the promotion of Waukesha & Pewaukee, WI, as a business and leisure destination.
