Waukesha BluesFest Poster Art Contest Winner Announced

The Waukesha Rotary Club is proud to announce the winner of the 2012 Waukesha BluesFest Poster Art Contest, Laura Kestly. Laura lives in Pewaukee with her husband, two sons and English bulldog. She has a fine arts degree from UW Oshkosh. The original artwork for the poster was created by Laura as an acrylic painting. Prints of Laura’s poster design will be available for purchase at Waukesha BluesFest on Friday, August 10 and Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, Wisconsin.

The second place winner in the contest is Deb Muraro of Dousman and taking third place is Shelly Brandis of West Allis.

Waukesha BluesFest Art Show, which is held in conjunction with the festival is now in its sixth year and is still accepting applications from artists wishing to be considered for the Art Show. This juried show focuses on artisans specializing in fine art and craft.

The Art Show is open to all artists 18 years of age and older. A jury will select artists based on picture entries of original work. Selection will be based on creativity, uniqueness in concept, quality, and sensitivity in execution. Reproductions of original artwork must be signed and numbered to include the size of the edition. The Waukesha BluesFest Art Committee reserves the right to refuse exhibition of work that is not consistent with submitted pictures and guidelines. The number of artists will be limited.

The deadline to submit pictures is July 1. The entry fee is $100 and includes a tented, 10’x 10’ space and a 2’x10’ storage space with electricity and artist recognition in signage and event program. Waukesha BluesFest, “An American Music and Art Festival, is in its sixth year and is held at Naga-Waukee Park in Delafield, 1/2 mile north of I-94 on STH 83. Gates will open at 12:30 pm both days with the music running from 1 pm until 10:30 pm.

The entertainment line-up for the 2012 Waukesha BluesFest includes 16 national, regional and local acts, featuring headliner Coco Montoya with James Armstrong on Friday, August 10th and headliner JJ Grey & Mofro with Watermelon Slim on Saturday, August 11th.

In addition to the live music entertainment, Waukesha BluesFest will feature an exceptional selection of food from popular local restaurants, a full selection of beverages and an Art Show featuring regional and locally known artists. On Friday draught beer will be 2 for the price of 1 before 5pm. Come out for great music and bargain prices on draught beer Friday afternoon!

Advance tickets are now on sale and Waukesha BluesFest fans can recognize significant savings by purchasing their tickets in advance. Through June 30, a single day pass will cost $10 and a 2-day pass will cost $17. From July 1 through August 9 ticket prices are $15 for a single day pass and $25 for a 2-day pass. At-the-gate prices will be $20 for a single day and $35 for the 2-day pass. Special rates are also available for groups of 10 or more. Parking and taxes are included with the admission price.
