Area congregations and educational institutions are once again hosting a prayer service for Christian unity on Tuesday, January 31, at 7 p.m. in the newly-constructed Adams Hall on the campus of Nashotah House Theological Seminary. The service will be led by clergy and representatives of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish, St. John’s Chrysostem Episcopal Church, Delafield Presbyterian Church and Christ the King Lutheran Church, along with Nashotah House and St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy.
Refreshments will follow the service in the adjoining refectory. This ecumenical prayer service is a part of the international observation of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, whose theme is “We will all be changed by the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ” and is based on I Corinthians 15:51-58.
The evening service of prayer will include an enmass choir that will practice at 6:00 p.m. and then lead the singing during the worship service. Father Michael Strachota, pastor of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish in Nashotah, will be the preacher and Nancy Brezezinski will be the organist for the service. A freewill offering will be split between the local food pantries of Oconomowoc, Hartland, and Kettle Moraine.
