After an emotional Greater Metro Conference loss to cross-town rival Brookfield East, the Lancers bounced back two days later and went 2-3 at the Elkhorn Invitational on Saturday.
Central lost to Germantown (48-31), West Allis Hale (61-12) and Elkhorn Area (69-3), but beat Beloit Memorial (41-30) and Kenosha Bradford (44-30).
Central had four pins against Germantown: Nick Veling at 182 (1:08), Matt Wilcox at 285 (3:17), Nick Olsen at 113 (3:25) and Joshua Peltier at 120 (3:54). Tom Hughes at 145 won a major decision (18-6) and Jacob Benning at 106 won a decision (12-5).
The Lancers had two decisions and a forfeit against the West Allis Hale Huskies. Peltier won (7-1) and Hughes earned a 5-4 decision. Veling won on a forfeit.
In the win over Beloit Memorial, Veling (0:50), Olsen (2:22) and Hughes (1:51) pinned their opponents. Josh Mokwa at 195 won a technical fall, 16-1, at 5:41. There was a double forfeit at 132 and Central won three matches by forfeit: Mark Craig at 152, Benning and Peltier.
