Wrestling: BC loses to Falls, Veling first at Invite

The Lancers dropped a 54-21 Greater Metro Conference dual meet to Menomonee Falls at home on Dec. 15 to start the week.

The Lancers had two pins, a decision and a forfeit to account on their hopes.

The highlight for the Lancers was Nick Veling's winning a 9-7 decision over previously-unbeaten Ayola Olapo.

Andy Woyak at 220 (2 minutes, 25 seconds) and Joshua Peltier at 120 (3:33) each won on pins and Matt Wilcox at 285 won on a forfeit.

Brookfield Central took part in the Mount Horeb/Barneveld Varsity Scramble on Saturday and finished sixth (96 points) out of 10 teams, as Oregon won the event with 178 points.

Veling was the Lancers only winner, taking first at 182 and scoring 23 points. He won by a pin (5:18), by major decision (14-0), by two more pins (0:55, 3:02) and a 3-1 decision.

Wilcox finished second at 285 and scored 18 team points. He won by pins (1:56, 1:01), received a bye, won by another pin (1:01) and then was pinned (2:44) in his final match.

Peltier took second and scored 15 team points. He won by a pin (0:26), lost by a pin (2:48), won a 3-0 decision and a major decision (10-0) and then lost a decision (5-4) in the title match.

Woyak at 220 finished fourth and scored nine points and four wrestlers had a fifth-place finish - Elliot Yanasak at 170 (seven points), Joey Lu at 113 (seven), Brandon Revolinski at 195 (five points) and Sam Murphy at 145 (five).

Mark Craig at 152 finished sixth and scored seven team points.
