Jr. Lancers set girls basketball tryouts

The 2012 girls Junior Lancers Basketball tryouts have been scheduled for the middle of September at Wisconsin Hills.

Fourth-grade tryouts are set for Sept. 17 and the fifth-grade tryouts are scheduled for Sept. 19, both tryouts scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The sixth-grade tryouts are set for Sept. 19 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The seventh and eighth-grade tryouts are set for Sept. 21 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for seventh-graders and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for the eighth-graders.

All players should arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled tryout time to register and receive tryout numbers. Third graders are also encouraged to try out for the fourth-grade team.

Three area athletes compete at Senior Spotlight

Fifty-five track and field athletes from Wisconsin, including two from Brookfield and one from Wauwatosa participated in the Midwest Senior Spotlight Meet on June 9 at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill.

Brookfield Academy's Ethan Jaynes finished fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.43 seconds and was a member of the third-place 400 relay team.

Brookfield Central's Nick Petersson finished second in the 3,200 in 9 minutes, 56.21 seconds and Wauwatosa East's Max Kilpin was third in the high jump in 6-feet, 6 inches.

Former Milwaukee Brewers set baseball camp

The 11th annual Menomonee Falls Baseball Camp is set for July 16 to 19 at the Menomonee Falls Little League Complex.

The camp is run by former Milwaukee Brewers Don August and Jim Gantner, and it will be from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the four days.

Ages 8 to 12 will be on the lower fields and ages 13 and above will be on the upper fields.

Central boys set position basketball camp

The Brookfield Central coaching staff has announced boys basketball camps for the summer months at Brookfield Central.

The Position Camp is June 25 to 28: Session I is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and Session II is from 10:30 a.m. to noon for players going into grades four through 12.

Speed-Agility Camps scheduled for June and July

A Basketball Speed and Agility Camp presented by Team Speed Sports Performance for boys and girls in grades five through 12.

A Youth Football Speed and Agility Camp for all youth football players is set for July 9 to 11 at St. Joe's Grade School in Wauwatosa.

Dundun Freshman Skills Soccer Camp set in July

The Dundun Freshman Skills Soccer Camp is set for July 23 to 26 for players entering the ninth grade in the fall.

Brookfield East coach Herbie Dundun will run the camp at Brookfield East, where there are five spacious natural grass fields for players to practice and enhance skills.

The camp will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Campers should bring a ball, water, cleats and shin guards.

The cost is $90 per session and is open to the first 40 applicants. (Players from other schools may attend).

The camp's main focus is to help players improve their skills with the ball.
