Brookfield East and Brookfield Central did not qualify any wrestlers for this week's WIAA State Individual Wrestling meet at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Kohl Center.
With only the two top wrestlers qualifying, the best the locals could do was three third-place finishes by East's Casey Dentino at 132 and John Leclaire at 195 and Central's Nic Veling at 182.
Burlington won the Waukesha West 15-team sectional with 136.5 points to easily beat out Waterford (85.5). The Spartans were eighth with 24 points and the Lancers were 14th with nine.
Dentino, who was 37-10 this year, scored 10 team points in his four matches.
He opened by pinning Connor Price (Muskego, 31-10) in 4 minutes, 4:46 seconds, but then lost a 6-2 decision to Matt Ehlen (Burlington, 41-8). He then won the third-place match with a 6-2 decision over Jose Calderon (Waukesha West, 22-9), but lost to second-place match by rule to Ehlen.
LeClaire (28-11) scored nine team points.
He won by a major decision (12-4) over TJ Stewart (New Berlin West/New Berlin Eisenhower, 35-9) in the first round, but then lost a major decision (15-3) to Nick Wall (Waukesha West, 34-7). He then won a 9-5 decision over Ben Leuzinger (Kettle Moraine, 33-10) but lost by rule to Wall in the second-place match.
Veling (45-3) scored nine team points, Central's entire total.
He opened by winning a 14-3 major decision over Joe Quaglieri (Mukwonago, 26-17), but then lost a tough 3-2 decision to Ryan Jazdzewski (Burlington, 37-10). He won a 4-2 decision over Drew Dunkleberger (Fort Atkinson, 35-11), but lost the second-place match by rule to Jazdzewski.
East's Andrew Sobczak (35-12) took fourth at 285 and scored five team points.
He won a 4-2 decision over Dion Hupke (Fort Atkinson, 34-15) in the first round, but lost a tough 3-2 double overtime decision to Tyler Ladwig (Mukwonago, 42-3). He then was pinned (6:58) in the third-match by Neal Miller (Burlington, 32-12).

Brookfield East
Josh Dempsey at 126 (27-19) lost a 10-2 major decision to Turner Albrecht (Union Grove, 32-8) and Sam Brunker at 170 (24-13) lost a 5-3 decision to Jesse Busch (Burlington, 18-13).
Brookfield Central
Nick Olsen at 113 (21-19) lost by pin (2:24) to Jake Vadnais (Mukwonago, 34-11); Joshua Peltier at 120 (26-21) lost an 18-3 technical fall to Kody Azarian (Waterford, 44-2); Sam Murphy at 138 (16-21) was pinned (2:33) by Brody Fitzpatrick (Burlington, 32-3); Tom Hughes at 145 (22-10) lost a 6-4 decision to Kirk Zylke (Mukwonago, 28-14) and Matt Wilcox at 220 (31-16) lost an 8-1 decision to Luke Belich (Mukwonago, 38-5).
