Brookfield Academy wrapups: May 21

Girls soccer

The Brookfield Academy girls continued to play strong as they wrapped up their second-to-last week of games in the regular season, winning both games by a staggering margin.

The Blue Knights beat the Big Red of Wayland Academy, 9-0, on May 14 at home to start the week. Seniors Eimile Pesch and Liz Collins teamed up six times, as Pesch scored four times, each assisted by Collins, while Collins scored a total of two goals.

Also scoring were senior captain Ana Bayerlein and sophomores Izzy Ricci and Grace Beagle.

Two days later Brookfield Academy beat Dominican, 7-2, at home. The Blue Knights once again started out strong.

In the fifth minute, freshman Shreya Shah scored off a great cross from Beagle and then Shah assisted Pesch, who scored in the seventh minute. Pesch scored a total of four goals once again.

Junior Ally Anderson scored twice and Collins continued to feed perfect balls to her teammates with a total of four assists.

Junior midfielder Josie Francis continued to play great offense as well as defense. The Blue Knights have drastically improved as a team this season.

Baseball

The Blue Knights had a great week this week, going 3-0 to wrap up conference play. They dominated the two games played against Wayland Academy (21-5, 10-0) and won a tight one against Lakeside Lutheran (3-1).

Nate Stolte pitched the first Wayland game May 15, going the complete game with some stellar offense behind him. The second game the Blue Knights won in a five-inning run rule May 17.

Zach Kolasinski pitched four innings and Garrett McElligott finished the fifth and last inning.

The Blue Knights beat Lakeside Lutheran, winning in eight innings, getting an amazing performance from right-hander Tyler Frohwirth, who tossed a complete game. Dominic Ricci had a clutch hit to drive in a run and take the lead.

The Blue Knights are 4-0 in extra innings baseball this year.
