Boys basketball
The Brookfield Academy boys basketball team has already won more games than it did last year. Currently, the team holds an overall record of 7-5 overall and 5-1 in conference. The season has been strong for the Blue Knights; however, competing with multiple top-10 teams has given them a record they plan to improve. They have lost three games to top ranked-opponents, Racine Lutheran, Dominican and Shoreland Lutheran.
The Brookfield Academy boys basketball team improved to 8-5 overall and 6-1 in conference. With wins over St. John's Northwestern Military Academy and Messmer, BA took sole possession of second place in the conference.
The Blue Knights won, 58-52, at St. John's on Jan. 17 behind Sean Clarey, who led all the scorers with 17 points.
BA then beat Messmer, 56-46, on Saturday, as Domonique Criss led all scorers with 21 points.
Going into the game, Messmer (5-2, 9-2) and BA both had one loss in conference, so the win was huge for the Blue Knights. BA came out hot and led 16-7 after the first quarter. About midway through the second quarter, Criss stole a pass at half court and finished with an electrifying dunk, giving BA a 17-point lead at halftime.
BA will take on Living Word at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and then host Wayland Academy at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 30.
