Brookfield East almost won a big nonconference match Aug. 30 at home, but Shorewood rallied to win 3-2.
The Spartans battled and won the first game in a thriller, 26-24. Shorewood rallied to win the second game, 25-19, but East battled back and won another close match, 25-22.
The Greyhounds then took over and won the final two hard-fought games, 26-24 and 15-12.
In the Kettle Moraine Invitational on Saturday, the Spartans defeated Kenosha Tremper (30-28, 25-14) and then lost to Kenosha Tremper on points (25-20, 18-25).
