BOYS TENNIS East fourth at Spartan Invite

The Brookfield East boys tennis team had a busy week, beating Oconomowoc, Eau Claire Memorial and then finishing fourth in the Brookfield East tournament on Saturday.

In the 7-0 win over Oconomowoc on April 18, the winners were Tim Corwin (6-1, 6-0), Felix Corwin (6-0, 6-0), Michael Amato (6-0, 6-0) and Tim Langlois (6-2, 6-2) at singles.

The doubles winners were Ben Klein/Ben Stewart (6-4, 6-2), Henri Termuehlen/Jimmy Engelhart (6-3, 6-2) and Cole Leonovicz/Tyler Kendler (6-1, 6-0).

Then on Friday, the Spartans nipped Eau Claire Memorial, 4-3.

Winners were Tim Corwin (6-0, 6-2), Engelhart at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-4) and Klein/Stewart (6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3)) and Termuehlen/Felix Corwin (1-6, 6-1, 6-3) at doubles.

The Spartans finished fourth out of eight teams at the Spartan Invitational on Saturday.

They beat Arrowhead, 7-0, in the opener, led by singles victors Tim Corwin (6-0, 6-7, 10-4), Felix Corwin (6-1, 6-1), Amato (7-6, 1-6, 6-2) and Langlois (6-1, 6-0). Doubles winners were Klein/Stewart (6-0, 6-1), Termuehlen/Engelhart (6-3, 6-4) and Billy Dietz/Michael Wolff (6-4, 6-4).

They then lost to powerful Marquette, 6-1, with Felix Corwin getting the only win at No. 2 singles (6-2, 7-5).

The Spartans lost the third-place match to Nicolet, 4-3, with Felix Corwin winning at No. 1 singles, Klein/Tim Corwin winning at No. 1 doubles and Stewart/Engelhart winning at No. 2 doubles.

Marquette finished first, followed by Eau Claire Memorial, Nicolet, Brookfield East, University School, Arrowhead and Neenah and Brookfield Central tied for seventh.
