Jan. 15, 2012 | 0 comments

The red-hot Brookfield Stars have a four-game winning streak and have won six of their last eight games. They improved to 9-7 overall with two nonconference victories last week.

The Stars began the week with a 4-2 win at Sheboygan on Jan. 9, as they battled back from a 2-0 deficit.

The Red Raiders (5-9-1) scored at 2 minutes, 52 seconds and 4:08. The Stars got on the board at 9:21 when Brandt Rogers scored on a power play, assisted by Matt Fosdick and Max Hoffman.

Hoffman tied the score on a power play assisted by Fosdick and Rogers at 10:25.

Brookfield took the lead 46 seconds into the second period when P.J. Corbett scored a short-handed goal. Fosdick then scored his second goal on a pass from Rogers at 12:50.

Rogers and Fosdick each finished with a goal and two assists, Hoffman had a goal and an assist, and Corbett had a goal. JJ Murnane saved 20 of 22 shots on goal.

The Stars then beat Stoughton (5-8), 6-3, Saturday at The Ponds of Brookfield to end their week's work.

Patrick O'Brien scored twice and added an assist, and Tommy Hastings, Carter Jenkins and Rogers each had a goal and an assist. Zak Pipers added a goal, and Tommy Porkka, Corbett and Dan Carlson each had an assist.

The Stars - behind goals by Hastings and Pipers (O'Brien) - took a 2-1 lead after the first period. O'Brien opened the second period with a power-play goal (Jenkins, Porkka) to take a 3-1 lead into the final period.

After Stoughton scored twice in the final period - sandwiched around a short-handed goal by Jenkins (Rogers) - to cut the lead to 4-3, the Stars closed out the game with goals by O'Brien (Corbett, Carlson) and Rogers to get the victory.

Murnane stood out again with 23 saves out of 26 shots on goal.

Kettle Moraine Glacier

The Glacier won 5-2 at Fox Cities on Friday. There were no details reported.
