The Brookfield Stars whipped Kenosha, 5-1, on Friday on the road, scoring four goals in the second period to get the win.
The Stars improved to 3-1, second place in the Classic 8, and they are 10-7 overall behind first-place Kettle Moraine/Mukwonago (4-0, 15-3). Kenosha is sixth out of seven teams in fourth place (1-4, 7-9) in conference.
Patrick O'Brien had a goal and two assists, Brandt Rogers had two assists and Dan Carlson, Tommy Porkka, Drew Owen and Max Hoffman each had a goal. Carter Jenkins and Tommy Hastings each had an assist.
O'Brien/Rogers gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 12:59 of the first period, only to see the Thunder tie the game at 4:01 of the second period.
But then the Stars exploded for four goals to put the game away.
Carlson/O'Brien scored 26 seconds later; Porkka scored a power-play goal (Rogers) at 5:56; Owen scored at 13:33 (Jenkins/Hastings) and
Hoffman (O'Brien) closed out the scoring at 15:36.
