The Brookfield Barracudas had a good week, finishing third in their own Invitational on Dec. 4 and then beating Menomonee Falls/Sussex Hamilton/Germantown in a Greater Metro Conference dual meet, 116-61, two days later at Falls.
In the win over the Falls co-op, senior Joe Bauer and sophomore Brian Borden led the way, each winning four events, including being a member of two relay teams.
Bauer won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.81 seconds and the 100 free (51.90). He was also a member of the 500 free relay and the 400 free relay.
Borden captured the 100 butterfly (56.46) and the 100 backstroke (56.82) and joined Bauer on the winning 500 free and 400 free relays.
Sophomore Michael Flatley finished first in two events - the 200 free (1:55.50) and as a member of the 400 free relay.
Junior Tyler Patt was the other individual winner, capturing the breast stroke in 1 minute, 6.42 seconds.
Joining Borden and Bauer on the winning 500 free relay (1:33.33) was senior Mitch Douglas and freshman Conner Rumpit. Joining Borden, Bauer and Flatley on the winning 400 free relay (3:30.66) was junior Dean Zheng.
"The meet was suspiciously one-sided," coach William Twitchell said. "I suspect Falls was missing a few of their athletes."
The JV also won 98-49.
James Madison won the Barracuda Invitational with 593 points, Middleton was second (391.5) and Brookfield was third (299.5). Arrowhead (284), Greenfield/Greendale (213) and Brookfield Academy (123) rounded out the bottom three.
Point scorers for the Barracudas were Borden, who won the 100 breast (1:02.02) and was Brookfield's only winner. He was also second in the 200 free (1:49.12).
The 200 free relay of Douglas, Bauer, Rumpit and Borden took fourth (1:32.99), which was the Barracudas third-best finish.
The 200 medley relay team of freshman Tomer Korabelnikov, Patt, Rumpit and Douglas finished fifth (1:48.33) and John Heal finished sixth in the 1-meter diving (173.90)
