Brookfield Central senior Katelyn Malcore finished 10th in all-around, highlighted by a fourth-place performance in the floor, at the WIAA State Girls Gymnastics Tournament in Wisconsin Rapids on Friday and Saturday.

"Katelyn's goal since freshman year was to compete all-around at state," Brookfield coach Carina Garcia said. "She accomplished her goal on Saturday."

Malcore tied for fourth on floor with seniors Stephanie Kirn of West Bend West and Katie Kutchin of Middleton, each finishing with a score of 9.283. Freshman Caitlin Jurk of Sheboygan won the event (9.433).

Malcore tied for ninth in the vault with Hannah Lawrence of West Bend West and Sara Axness of Eau Claire Memorial/North, each with a score of 9.083. Sara Ennocenti of Janesville Craig (9.483) won the event.

Malcore was 23rd in the uneven bars (8.100) and she had a 9.467 in the balance beam, an event she did not qualify for. That score was the second best among the qualifiers.

She finished with an all-around score of 35.933, good enough for 10th. Sophomore Becky Schneider of Janesville Craig won the all-around (36.867).

"Although Katelyn did fall on bars, she had a great state meet," Garcia said. "She had one of her best floor and beam routines of the season. She also placed fourth on floor, and although she did not qualify individually on beam (and therefore her score was not recognized) she did get the second highest beam score in the state."
