Boys Swimming/Diving: Talented Barracudas have great season

March 5, 2010 | 0 comments

The Brookfield Barracudas had one of their best seasons in the last 15 years, coach Bill Twitchell said.

The Brookfield Central/East boys co-op swimming and diving team finished third in the Classic 8 Conference and then had a successful postseason by taking third in sectionals and ninth in state.

"That was our best finish for all three since we moved to the Classic 8 Conference," Twitchell said. "It is our best finish at state since the teams (Central and East) combined. This is our most talented team since our state championship teams of the mid-90s."

Spencer Rose was named the Barracudas' MVP and was part of three school records. He set a school record in the 100-yard freestyle and was a member of two record-setting relay teams.

He joined Adam Rose, Theo LeClere and Erik Wahlgren on the 200 free relay and he teamed with Colton Gilmore, Wahlgren and LeClere on the 400 free relay.

"Unfortunately, over 70 percent of our points for our season will be graduating this year," Twitchell said.

The Barracudas' overall record was 67-9.
