Boys Basketball: Spartans win twice last week

Feb. 28, 2010 | 0 comments

The Brookfield East boys basketball team finished the regular season on a positive note by winning a nonconference game at Franklin, 56-51, Feb. 22 and their final Greater Metro Conference game, 53-43, against host West Allis Hale on Feb. 25.

The wins gave the Spartans a two-game winning streak. Going back to Jan. 12, the Spartans have a 5-6 overall record.

They finished 4-10 in the GMC and 8-14 overall, tied for sixth with West Allis Central (4-10, 9-13).

The win over Franklin was a makeup from a Feb. 9 snow-out. East led 25-22, but then used a 19-11 third period to coast into the final quarter with a 44-33 advantage.

C.J. Gregg led the way with 15 points, while Kyle Henning and Donavin Tucker had nine each. Henning had all his points on 3-pointers.

The Spartans then came out quickly Feb. 25 and buried the winless Huskies (0-14, 0-22) in their conference finale to close out the regular season.

They led 15-6, 27-14 and 37-27 after each of the first three quarters to win going away.

Colin DeVoe had 14 points, while Dan Osgood scored nine points and John Foley and Gregg added eight points each.
