If the Brookfield East Spartans are to win their first league game under coach Sal Logue, it has to happen in the next three weeks. The team has been outscored 138-23 in their first three Greater Metro Conference games.
Marquette handed East its third straight conference loss Friday, 45-0, at Hart Park, rolling up 415 total yards, 331 on the ground. The game was never close, as the powerful Hilltoppers led 21-0 after one period and 35-0 at intermission.
Running back Tedrick Boone had 10 rushes for 51 yards to lead the Spartans. Quarterback Skyler Holden struggled, going 2-for-10 for seven yards with two interceptions.
After facing three teams with a 7-2 league record to open the conference schedule, the Spartans now play three teams in three weeks with a 2-7 record.
East (2-3 overall) hosts West Allis Central (1-2) for homecoming at 7 p.m. Friday before traveling to Hart Park to face Wauwatosa East (0-3) on Oct. 9 and then returning home to face West Allis Hale (1-2) on Oct. 16.
The Spartans close with current co-leader Menomonee Falls (3-0) on the road.
