The regular season is over for one Brookfield Land O' Lakes team, while the other squad begins the playoffs this weekend at home.
The Bulldogs (12-6) finished tied for third with Sussex in the Western Division, placing behind Oconomowoc (15-3) and Lannon (14-4).
They will host sixth-seeded Pewaukee (11-7) at McCoy Field at 1 p.m. Saturday. Fifth-seeded West Bend (11-7) will travel to Sussex for a 1 p.m. game Saturday.
If the Bulldogs beat Pewaukee, they will play at Lannon at 1p.m. Sunday. The winner of the West Bend-Sussex game will travel to Oconomowoc on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Bulldogs lost a chance to get a first-round bye when they lost to Lannon, 5-0, at home Sunday.
The Bulldogs' offense was held to two hits (Shane Davis and Bill Lucyshyn) off the Stonemen's Eric Rohe, who fanned seven and did not walk a batter.
Mark Erickson started and took the loss, allowing two earned runs on eight hits while striking out four and walking two in 4 1/3 innings. Greg Basthemer pitched the final 4 2/3 innings, giving up a run on three hits.
Meanwhile the Brookfield Blue Sox tied Hartland for ninth, each with 4-14 records, following a 6-5 loss at West Bend on Sunday.
Trailing 6-2, the Sox rallied for three runs in the seventh, but couldn't get any closer. Ken Poniewicz smashed a three-run homer for the inning's big blow.
John Arnold allowed only three earned runs and struck nine in the complete-game loss.
