The Brookfield Blue Sox baseball team split two road games in Land O' Lakes play last weekend, losing to first-place Lannon, 11-4, Saturday and beating Hartland, 9-3, Sunday.
The Blue Sox are in ninth place (4-10) in the Western Division and will face Sussex (8-6) at noon Saturday and Monches at 1 p.m. Sunday at McCoy Field.
Brookfield used a five-run first inning to jumpstart the win over Sussex. Ken Poniewaz, John Arnold and Tim Kahle had RBI singles, and Jeff Lemmermann had a two-run single to highlight the inning.
Lemmermann, Kahle and Arnold had two RBIs each, while Poniewaz, Jay Wojcinski and Steve Huggins each scored twice and Kahle, Poniewaz and Bill Posteluk each had two hits on the day.
Lannon (13-2) jumped off to an 8-1 lead and coasted to the victory Saturday. Poniewaz smashed a two-run homer and Lemmermann had two hits for the Blue Sox' only highlights.
