Freshman, senior keys East win over Pewaukee
Brookfield East defeated Pewaukee, 12-4, Saturday morning in a non-conference game as freshman Pat O'Brien and senior Jake Janowski sparked the victory.
O'Brien, who was brought up from the junior varsity to pitch today's game, pitched six innings, allowing seven hits, three runs, one earned and fanning six. He showed excellent control, not walking one batter.
"He did a good job for us today," East coach Tim Granger said. "He's going back down to the JV because he is also their starting shortstop, but I see him coming back up down the stretch and playing a role with our rotation."
East pounded out 10 hits, as senior first baseman Jake Janowski had two doubles and two singles and drove in two runs to lead the attack.
The eighth and ninth hitters also added to the attack as Hobie Holden doubled and singled and scored twice and Adam Knudsen singled twice and drove in two runs.
East improved to 13-9 overall and they are tied for first place in the Greater Metro Conference (8-3) after beating Hamilton, 5-4, in eight innings on Friday.
