The Brookfield East girls track team totally crushed the competition at the Doug Johnson Bulldog Invite on Friday at West Allis Central, winning the meet by 88 points.

East scored 172 points to far outdistance Milwaukee Rufus King (84) in the 10-team invitational. The Spartans had eight first-place finishes, six by individuals.

"Friday's meet illustrated the depth of our team," East coach Lisa Foss said. "Many of our top-scoring athletes only competed in one to two events, yet the girls were still able to win the meet by 88 points.

"It was a great meet to test out some things for conference and build confidence. The girls continue to work hard and grow closer toward their goal of being that top team (in Greater Metro). They want it."

Khadiya Hollingsworth was a double winner, taking first in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 6 inches and first in the 200-meter dash (27.98 seconds). She earned Athlete of the Meet honors for her effort.

Alisha Harper was first in the long jump (18-3), and Kate Watry was first in the pole vault (personal record 9-6).

Harper broke the school and meet record (17-9 1/2 last year) in her first jump of the year.

"I am extremely impressed with Alisha's start to the season," Foss said. "This jump was more than impressive as it was the first time she long-jumped this season. She almost flew out of the pit."

Allie Bullen won the 55 dash (7.76) and finished second in the 55 low hurdles (9.07), while Allyx Kvasnicka took first in the 800 run in 2 minutes, 36.95 seconds.

The two winning relay teams were the 3,200 (10:54.99) behind Brianna Mathison, Sarah Werking, Ellen Bruhn and Kvasnicka and the six-lap relay (2:27.92) of Julia Jacob, Amy Grisa, Sierra Fischer and Maddy Fitzpatrick.

"It was one of the most exciting races of the meet," Foss said. "Sierra Fischer had an impressive third leg to go from third place to first, and Maddy Fitzpatrick held off a strong anchor leg by King."

Brianna Mathison in the 800 run (2:41.20) and Werking in the 1,600 run (5:47.03) each finished second.

The Spartans were third in four events, two individual and two relays.

Kelsey Linsmeier in the 55 high hurdles (9.45) and Molly Perkins in the 3,200 run (13:59.37) each finished third in their individual events.

The four-lap relay was third (1:34.47) behind Katie Linhart, Linsmeier, Eleni Tongas and Kate Watry as was the 1,600 relay (4:47.98) behind Jacob, Fitzpatrick, Tori Hansen and Natalie Mussatto.

Angela Schmidt was fourth in the long jump (13-11) and seventh in the 55 dash (8.25), while Linhart finished fourth in the 200 (30.48).

The Spartans also had two field event participants finish fourth — Eliana Aschcroft in the pole vault (8-0) and Mussatto in the high jump (4-6).

Katie Krugel in the triple jump (30-0), Fischer in the 55 low hurdles (10.02) and Bruhn in the 1,600 (6:13.02) were all fifth.

Amy Grisa took sixth place in the 55 high hurdles (10.74), and Hansen was seventh in the 400 run (1:12.86).

Erin Kreul and Amanda Hodgson finished fifth (30-8) and seventh (29-4), respectively, in the shot put.

East will take part in the Greater Metro Conference Outdoor on Wednesday, April 2, and then host the Spartan Invitational on Wednesday, April 9.
