Three local student-athletes have signed letters of intent Wednesday to participate in their respective sports for next year.
Brookfield Central
Both Jessica Meichtry (Central Michigan University) and Taylor Held (Southern Illinois University) will play volleyball for their respective schools.
Both played for coach Scott Spiess.
This past season Meichtry earned the following honors: second team All-Greater Metro Conference and honorable mention Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association All State teams.
Meichtry was also the Lancers leader in kills (401) and aces (74).
She is also a 2012 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel All-Area Team nominee and is on the 2012 American Volleyball Coaches Association Under Armour All-American Watch List.
Held is a first-team All-GMC selection this year, as well as a third-team Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association All-State selection.

Held, the team's MVP, led the Lancers in digs (459) and was a team captain.
As a junior she was first-team All-GMC, third-team Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association All-State and fourth-team Milwaukee Journal Sentinel All-Area and she was an All-GMC honorable mention selection as a sophomore.
Divine Savior Holy Angels
Brookfield's Olivia Akin of Divine Savior Holy Angels is headed to Loyola Chicago to play Division I volleyball next year. She received a full scholarship for volleyball.
She has played for Milwaukee Sting Gold for the last six years and earned All American at Nationals last summer. DSHA made it to the state the finals, where Olivia made the All-Tournament Team.
