Sixth-ranked Brookfield Central won the Greater Metro Conference girls golf championship on Sept. 20 at Broadlands Golf Course and finished the season with a nine-point victory in the overall standings.
The Lancers also had three golfers - sophomore Grace Dunn (231) and seniors Christine Tang (233) and Amanda Reisner (249) - on the all-conference first team. Seniors Sierah Gurske of Brookfield East (236) and Becca Brielmaier of Divine Savior Holy Angels (222) rounded out the first-team selections.
The Lancers and the Dashers tied for first with a 335, but Central won the tiebreaker to earn 12 points to DSHA's 10. Central finished with 40 overall points while DSHA and Brookfield East each had 31. Menomonee Falls (22), Wauwatosa East/West (14) and Sussex Hamilton (9) rounded out the final standings.
In the championship round, the Lancers were led by Dunn's 77, followed by Reisner (82), Tang (84), Taylor Moon (92) and Kyla Hoem (96).
Menomonee Falls finished third (335) and the Spartans fourth (374) followed by Sussex Hamilton (405) and Wauwatosa (406).
For East, besides Gurske's 83, junior Katie Hartman had a 92, freshman Nina Galang a 95, senior Anne Montross, a 104 and Nora Whetter, a 105.
Hartman earned second team honors (258 total) and Moon (280), Galang (281) and Whetter (287) were on the third team.
Final mini-meet
For the first time this season, Central didn't win a Greater Metro Conference mini-meet Sept. 17. But that wasn't the big news. The big news was the Lancers finished third behind East and Divine Savior Holy Angels.
Central shot a 165 in the final mini-meet, one shot behind the Spartans (164), but they then lost the tiebreaker to DSHA (165). The Lancers still lead the overall standings with 28 points, three ahead of the Spartans.
Leading the way for Central was Tang with a 39, one stroke ahead of Dunn (40) and two ahead of Reisner (41).
Moon finished with a 45 and Maddie Culver a 52.
Tang finished third behind Breilmaier (35) and East's Sierah Gurske (37) for medalist honors.
