Brookfield East got two goals from Max Karcher and rolled to a 4-1 win over Cedarburg on Thursday night and advanced to next week's sectional semfinal at East. Spartans will face Wauwatosa East, which upset Brookfield Central, 1-0, at Central on Thursday. No details were available. Game time is 7 p.m. at Brookfield East. Max Karcher hit a perfectly-placed ball to the back of the net at the 5 minute, 28 second mark with the assist from David Fuchs for the quick early lead. But Steven Henderson of Cedarburg, snuck a goal past Goalkeeper Alex Cagle at 21:26 with the assist from Parker Hewes. Karcher then gave East the lead for good at 33:06, when he scored on a throw-in from John Orgovan. East's final two goals came in the second half at 77:15 – on a penalty kick by Mark Heydt and at 79:33 – when Nick Schimborski had a well-placed pass to Tommy Sucevic for the final goal of the game. In the second half, Cedarburg came out attacking, but the Spartans' solid defense held them to one shot in the second half. “It was a good game by both teams," East coach Herbie Dundun said. "I was surprised with the presentation by Cedarburg; however we outplayed them, created opportunities, and finished the ball. "I am very happy to have won the regional championship, and we’ll take it one game at a time.”
