Girls Golf: East looking to improve putting

Aug. 29, 2010 | 0 comments

The Brookfield East girls will be looking to improve their putting, coach Chris Minchk said.

The Spartans took part in three events last week, finishing third in the Greater Metro Conference mini-meet Aug. 26; shooting six under while finishing ninth in the Waukesha County Ironwood Invitational on Aug. 25 and taking third at the Racine Case Invitational on Aug. 24.

Divine Savior Holy Angels and Brookfield Central finished ahead of the Spartans in the mini-meet at Songbird Hills Golf Club.

East shot a 180, led by Sierah Gurske with a 41. Sarah Hepperla (45), Kristy Stevlingson (44), Allie Johnson (49) and Katie Hartman (61) rounded out the scoring.

"We need to improve our putting," Minchk said. "We had too many three-putts. Those three-putts are killers."

The Spartans shot a 349 and finished third at the Brian Schroeder Memorial Racine Case Invitational at Wanaki.

Gurske tied for third with an 81, and Hepperla shot a 92. Stevlingson and Hannah Schultz shot a 92 as the bestball team, and Selina Shannon and Johnson tied for fourth with an 84 in the scramble.

The Spartans finished ninth with a 66 at the Waukesha County Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course.
