Brookfield Central senior Marissa Schlagenhauf continued to shine last week.
"I'm happy. I'm thrilled. She has been she very personable," Central coach Brian Scrobel said. "She wants to go to state. She wants the team to go to state. That's what motivated her this summer. She was invited to that PGA event this summer, and that has attributed to her success this year."
Schlagenhauf has raised the bar for herself and the team this fall.
"She has shot a 73, 79, 39, 38 and an 80," Scrobel said. "She was disappointed and mad when she shot the 80. That's how far she has come."
The Lancers opened the week by taking fourth in the Brian Schroeder Memorial Racine Case Invitational on Aug. 23 at Wanaki Golf Course. The event is broken into two individual scores, one bestball pair and one scramble pair.
Prairie School won the event with a 330, followed by Kenosha Tremper (346), Brookfield East (349) and Central (350).
Schlagenhauf finished second with an 80, and senior Arie Goodman and sophomore Amanda Reisner took third in bestball (90).
Sophomore Christine Tang shot an 88, and the scramble team of junior Anne Parker and freshman Maddie Culver shot a 92.
Central finished 10th at the Arrowhead Scramble on Aug. 25 at Ironwood Golf Course, shooting a 67, only five strokes behind the Divine Savior Holy Angels, Arrowhead Red and Waukesha Purple, all of whom shot 62.
Then on Aug. 26, the Lancers finished second (179) behind Divine Savior Holy Angels (173) in the Greater Metro Conference mini-meet at Songbird Hills, improving on their third-place finish in the first mini-meet.
Schlagenhauf shot a 28, Goodman a 46, Tang a 47, Parker a 48 and Reisner a 51.
