Thirty local artists will set up shop for one day only in the Village area of Brookfield on Nov. 1 for the first Art and Spirit Crawl.
Organized by Brookfield Village Ltd., a volunteer powered not-for-profit that promotes area business, the event is meant to showcase not only the artists, but the 15 stores and restaurants that will be hosting them and serving refreshments.
"We're still working hard getting people into the Village that want to spend time there," said Dawn Farina, Brookfield artist and founder of Brookfield Village Ltd. "We would like to make sure people know of the Village, and that it's a fun place."
Maps will be available to guide walkers to the artists along Brookfield Road, from North Avenue to Burleigh Road. Local musicians will play in the street, weather permitting, and food will be sold from tents.
The free event features Marina Lee and her life-size whimsical fiberglass creatures. The other artists will provide a range of pieces for sale, including wall art, fabric art, jewelry, birdhouses, pottery, metal sculptures, stained glass, mosaics and murals.
The main event runs from 4 to 10 p.m. with some events earlier in the day. City of Brookfield Mayor Steve Ponto will speak at 11 a.m. and Vino Cappuccino will serve free pizza from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., sponsored by Metropolitan Development.
Parking will be available on Brookfield Road, in the Pleasant Street parking lot, at McCoy Field Park and at participating businesses.
