Sutton, Jurken and Lowerr face challenges

Town of Brookfield, Elm Grove races uncontested

The city of Brookfield's spring election will feature a number of contested aldermanic races, while municipal elections in Elm Grove and the town of Brookfield are entirely unchallenged.

Voters will head to the polls April 3 to select their local officials.

The deadline to file for candidacy was Tuesday. Here's who is running in the local municipal elections.

City of Brookfield

The District 1 aldermanic race will pit incumbent Daniel Sutton against former municipal judge Dick Steinberg.

In District 4, incumbent Buck Jurken will face Cathy Wolfla.

District 7 has two seats up for election. Competing for a four-year term will be incumbent Renee Lowerr and Waukesha County Supervisor Thomas Schellinger.

Running unchallenged: Rick Owen, District 2; Ron Balzer, District 3; Scott Berg, District 5; Christopher Blackburn, District 6; Lisa Mellone, District 7 (two-year term).

Elm Grove

Incumbents John Meser and George Haas and newcomer John Domaszeh will be on the ballot for the three open, at-large Village Board seats in Elm Grove.

Incumbent Jan Schoenecker is not seeking re-election.

Town of Brookfield

Two supervisors are up for re-election, and neither is challenged. Pat Stroebel and John Schatzman are both seeking a new term on the Town Board.
