Mukwonago man charged in town of Brookfield armed robbery

A 30-year-old Mukwonago man was charged with robbery with threat of force after allegedly robbing a town of Brookfield Subway at gunpoint last week.

Salvador Sanchez was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Monday after allegedly walking into Subway, 19555 W. Bluemound Road, at 10 p.m. March 13; demanding cash and showing a gun tucked in his waistband, escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Connection to Waukesha robberies

The suspect in the Brookfield robbery was described as a white man weighing about 140 pounds, 5-feet, 6-inches tall, wearing jeans, a black shirt and a black knit hat.

Two days later on March 15, a man matching that description robbed a Speedway gas station, 1600 E. Sunset Drive, in Waukesha at 12:54 a.m.

The suspect was described as a white male, 5-feet, 6-inches tall, average build, wearing blue jeans, a black hat, black ski-mask, black hooded sweatshirt and brown shoes, according to Waukesha police.

The next day on March 16, the same series of events at Subway, 131 E. Sunset Drive, would lead to the alleged robber's capture.

At 8:47 p.m., a man described as 5-feet, 6-inches tall, wearing a ski mask, a hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans walked into the restaurant, demanded cash and lifted his shirt to show a gun, and ran away after collecting $200, according to the police report.

Shortly after the third robbery, Lt. Tom Wagner of the Criminal Investigation Division for the city of Waukesha said police arrested a man matching the description given in all three robberies.

Wagner declined to provide more details about the arrest as the department continues its investigation of the robberies.

Sanchez has not been charged in connection with the Waukesha robberies, but Wagner said the department believes all the Waukesha robberies can be traced to Sanchez.

Sanchez is being held at the Waukesha County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 29.
