Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

Aug. 21, 2012

Since its founding in 1970, JDRF - the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - has awarded more than $1.6 billion to Type 1 Diabetes research. Recently the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter held a summer garden party at the Brookfield manor house of Kate and Don Wilson. Built in 1929-31 by the Kieckhefer family, the property was known as Brittany Farms. Restored, and in some cases redesigned, the home, the elaborate gardens and the beautifully landscaped grounds were the ideal setting for the garden party. Dr. Martin Hessner, director of the Max McGee National Research Center for Juvenile Diabetes, spoke to the 200 people attending the event about local diabetes projects.
