In 1984 a group of local fliers formed a chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Included in their membership were pioneer local fliers Dean and Dale Crites. The group was originally designated as an "antique classic" division of E.A.A. and later became a vintage division.
Recently they gathered for a holiday celebration at the Country Inn where Lois and Wally Mitchell, who owned the Capitol Drive Airport when the group was active there, also showed up for the party. Their daughter, Sharron Mitchell, emceed the event. Pictures of most of the fliers in their planes were projected on an overhead screen during dinner.
