Couple opens boxing club in Brookfield

TITLE Boxing Club focuses on fitness, not fighting

March 3, 2013

Lori and Steve Anacker's three-year search to find an ideal business to invest in promised to extend indefinitely - even after the couple was presented with the opportunity to own a TITLE Boxing Club franchise.

"I don't like the violence of boxing, but then we checked out a franchise in Naperville, Ill. and took one of their Power Hour classes," Lori Anacker said. "We've belonged to fitness clubs and this was like nothing we'd ever participated in. It was intense, fun and energizing and there was no fighting whatsoever. We were sold."

The Anackers subsequently became co-owners of Wisconsin's first TITLE Boxing Club franchise and hired their son Matthew as the general manager.

Opened in February and located on the corner of West Bluemound Road and Calhoun Road in Brookfield, the club revolves around its signature Power Hour group class. Designed as a high-intensity, total-body workout for people of all ages and fitness levels, Power Hour, according to Lori Anacker, allows members to burn up to 1,000 calories a session.

"Under the guidance of a certified trainer, Power Hour starts with 15 minutes of warm-up exercises before members put on boxing gloves and box or kickbox on the heavy bag, doing eight, three-minute rounds with one-minute active rests in between," she said. "Then, they move on to 15 minutes of core workouts, followed by stretching and cool down."

While the 6,500-square foot gym also includes treadmills, elliptical machines and free weights for members who prefer to work out on their own, Lori Anacker believes that TITLE Boxing Club's Power Hour sets it apart from other fitness clubs.

"There isn't a fitness facility in southeast Wisconsin that has 60 100-lb. heavy bags," she said.

The couple plans on opening two more TITLE Boxing Clubs in the Milwaukee area in the near future.

"I'd done kickboxing before, but working out on a heavy bag is different," she said. "The cardio, strength, toning and agility you get from this workout are unreal. TITLE Boxing Club is so convinced of the benefits of a Power Hour workout, that results are guaranteed, no questions asked."
