Grocery chain Trader Joe's officially opened its Brookfield location today.
The 12,500-square-foot store celebrated its grand opening at 12665 W. Bluemound Road this morning with Brookfield Mayor Steve Ponto and store manager Jeff Clark cutting a ceremonial lei. Festivities will continue throughout the day, with face painting for kids and food demonstrations.
The chain describes itself as a grocery store like no other, carrying domestic and imported items including fresh-baked artisan breads, international frozen entrees, 100 percent juices, deli items, and vitamins and supplements.
The store is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Trader Joe's has more than 380 stores in 34 states. Wisconsin is home to three of these stores, one in Glendale at Bayshore Town Center, one in Madison and the Bluemound store.
Trader Joe's is owned by the Albrecht family, the same family that owns the Aldi chain.
