Ask NOW: What's up with construction at Lisbon/Lilly?

Oct. 3, 2011 | 1 comment

Is there a rumor you've heard you would like to track down? Is there something in the community that needs to get fixed? Mary Malahy answers some of the mysteries of life in the Elmbrook area.

What's going on with the road work at Lisbon and Lilly?

Issue: A reader wants to know about the construction at Lisbon and Lilly roads. The intersection closed a month ago, but there was no activity for weeks. He also heard a rumor that the site was contaminated and could be closed all winter.

Status: Tom Grisa, city of Brookfield director of public works, says the site is not contaminated. However, crews did find an old Macadam road beneath the intersection, and it needs to be removed.

In addition, rain has been a problem.

"We just really need some dry weather," Grisa said.

The project should be completed by Thanksgiving, except for restoration work - such as grass planting - that will be done in spring.
