Ask NOW: State project will include continuous sidewalk

Dec. 28, 2011 | 1 comment

Is there a rumor you've heard you would like to track down? Is there something in the community that needs to get fixed? Mary Malahy answers some of the mysteries of life in the Elmbrook area.

State project will create continuous sidewalk

Issue: A reader wrote to me about the sidewalks on Bluemound Road west of Calhoun Road. She noticed that the sidewalks on the south side of the street are continuous but on the north side they are not, and this makes it difficult to walk or bike to businesses. She wants to know if the 2012 Bluemound Road project will include putting in more sidewalks.

Status: Steven Schindler, project manager for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, said the project will include adding a continuous sidewalk on both sides of the road from Interstate 94 to Moorland Road.

The project will begin in April, and the plan is to be done by Labor Day, he added.

  1. Please advise your reader that it is probably illegal to ride her bike on the sidewalk.
