April 17, 2012

How safe are city's bike paths?

Issue: With all the new bike paths crossing local roadways, a reader wants to know if there have been any reported accidents between cyclists and drivers.

Status: Capt. Phillip Horter, Brookfield Police Department, said he is not aware of any recent crashes involving bikes along the bike paths as they cross the roadways. He added that it is important for bike riders and motor vehicle operators to obey the traffic laws, watch for each other, yield as appropriate and use proper safety equipment.
